Abstract

The old conventional biotechnology techniques still have some shortcomings, it is still in a long process for harvesting and so on. Along with the development of technology, a method that was more effective and efficient was found than the old conventional biotechnology techniques. This method is called “Tissue Culture Technique”. Tissue culture is an effective method that can be used in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. The purpose of tissue culture itself is to produce large numbers of plants in a far shorter period of time, especially for newly produced high yielding varieties. It has been done by observing from Faculty Technobiology of Universitas Surabaya which is one of the best private universities in Surabaya that has started cultivating this tissue culture and they even have many high quality facilities inside their huge campus such as private laboratories. The results of this cultivation were very beneficial. In addition, with tissue culture, we can get the quality and quantity of seeds according to what we want. Therefore, the tissue culture method has many benefits for society and generates benefits for its users. This suggests that the method of tissue culture technique can be recommended for the biotechnology industries, pharmacy, and parent plant preservation.
