Abstract
A laminated tube is a tube-shaped container constructed of plastic, aluminum, or a combination of aluminum plastics, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH). It is commonly used for cosmetic containers, toothpaste, and other items. The laminated tube is also available in two types of laminates, namely aluminum barrier laminate (ABL) and plastic barrier laminate (PBL). The goal of this research is to observe the process of manufacturing laminated tubes from a physics standpoint. To achieve adequate tube quality, the authors also intend to describe the effect of pressure, temperature, and engine speed. Information about laminated tubes and injection was gleaned from literature sources as well as actual observations of the laminated tube manufacturing process at PT Pacific Equinox. The supporting information is also directly from PT Pacific Equinox representatives. The process of making a laminated tube is obtained with the first stage of printing a sheet of film paper, then the paper film will be irradiated by UV light. Next, the plastic plate is then attached to the roll section of the printing machine. The web will pass on a roll that has a rotating plate on top of a container containing UV ink. Next, the web will be cut into pieces and rolled into a tube. On the other hand, plastic ore will be smelted for the manufacture of shoulders and caps. This process is using a physics implementation in a compress injection machine that will be attached to the tube rolls. The finished tube will be pressure checked, to make sure it is perfectly glued, there are no leaks, and the density is right so that it is ready to be sent to the consumer. Keywords: laminated tube, compress injection, ultraviolet, shoulder, cap, web, physics implementation
