Abstract

Keyword: Culture, Nglinggo Village, Observation The “Saparan Nglinggo” culture is a tradition conducted in the “Saparan” month every year in Nglinggo village. It has been passed down from generation to generation. Therefore, this paper is composed to analyze how the “Saparan Nglinggo” tradition has affected the social groups, stratification, differentiation, and the people’s religious beliefs in Nglinggo village, as well as the important values of the tradition and how it unites the villagers. This research paper is based on the observation done during the “Social and Cultural Study” program on the 15th and 16th of February, 2021. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used to carry out this research. The first step to carry out this observation is to determine the questions that the researchers wish to answer in the research paper as well as the purpose on why this paper is being composed in the first place. The second stage of the observation is to absorb the information given by sources from Nglinggo itself through different approaches such as presentation done by the resources, videos, as well as a question and answer session. After mustering all the information needed to compose the research paper, the final step is to compose the paper itself. From the information gathered, it can be concluded that the “Saparan Nglinggo” tradition helps erase the classification of people in Nglinggo village. Through the important values that have been passed down for years in the “Saparan Nglinggo” tradition, it can be implied that tolerance and unity are the keys to maintain the harmony. In the researchers’ opinion, it is vital for the Nglinggo villagers to maintain the culture’s identity and originality so that it can still be carried on in the upcoming years by their grandchildren and so on.
