Abstract
Linear programming is one of the oldest mathematical practices in the world, dating back to the Babylonian era. However, there are minimal resources about the usability of this practice to businesses. This study focuses on implementing linear programming to analyze the sales rate and performance of machines used to make honey products in a large-scale beekeeping called Rimba Raya Bee Farm. The aim is to plan an effective strategy to maximize the company’s profit. Linear programming can be an effective method as it allows a company to estimate the sales required to maximize its profit, using the same amount of equity and liability. Therefore, it can be used as an evaluation of whether the company has taken full advantage of its resources. The data needed to conduct this study were the sales amount of the products, prices, types of machines, and ideal economic ratios. Direct observations and interviews with the company’s employees were the main procedures used to obtain the samples. The writer then constructed two or more linear lines and an objective function as the foundation of the linear programming. The results of this study conclude that Rimba Raya Bee Farm has an average efficiency in terms of its sales amount and profitability. All things considered, linear programming is proven to be an effective evaluation method for businesses.
