Abstract

Mathematics is essential for daily basis activities. Statistics is one of the mathematical calculations that can be applied. Statistics consist of mean, median, mode and standard deviation. The concept of statistics is mostly used in companies like PT Petrokimia to collect quantitative data for their financial report. PT Petrokimia recorded a decline in sales during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the researchers intended to analyze the sales of PT Petrokimia Gresik’s fertilizer before and after the pandemic by using the concept of statistics. This study aims to answer two research questions; (1) How has the pandemic affected fertilizer sales at PT Petrokimia Gresik? (2) What is the difference between prepandemic and during the pandemic sales of PT Petrokimia Gresik’s subsidized and unsubsidized fertilizer? The researchers conducted three methods to obtain the information. There were literature studies, observations, and interviews. The literature study was numerical data collected from PT Petrokimia Gresik fertilizer sales report per year. Observations were applied by observing and reporting the use of statistics at PT Petrokimia. Interviews were conducted through an online meeting by questions and answers session between researchers and representatives from PT Petrokimia Gresik. The analysis was gathered using qualitative data techniques with an explanatory approach. Based on the data analysis, the research showed a significant impact caused by the pandemic on the sales of PT Petrokimia Gresik’s fertilizer. COVID-19 pandemic affected fertilizer sales varies from one type to another. There are some sales that increased during the pandemic, but most of them declined. The lead of this study is detailed and accurate sales data from PT Petrokimia Gresik. The drawbacks were during the interview session researchers weren’t able to collect sufficient data.
