Abstract

Since the first time fertilizer is created, it has been an important thing in human life, especially in the agricultural sector. Over time, the nutrition content of the soil has decreased significantly due to increasing land use without paying attention to its sustainability. As a result, the demand for fertilizing from year to year tends to rise. The fertilizer must be able to increase plant growth and productivity. On the other hand, fertilizers must also improve soil quality to build a sustainable agricultural system. Fertilizers that are claimed to have such characteristics are organic fertilizers. Organic fertilizers come from natural ingredients that have undergone processing. This also causes the nutritional content of organic fertilizers to be usually inconsistent. However, there are standards that have been set for the manufacture of organic fertilizers. Therefore, this study examines the regulation of raw materials for making Petroganik produced by PT Petrokimia Gresik. This study also explains the impact of Petroganik on plants and soil. This study uses a combination method of qualitative and quantitative. The data was obtained through interviews, observations, and literature studies. The manufacture of Petroganik uses chicken manure, cow manure, sugar factory waste, filler, and mixtro. These materials undergo a process of crushing, drying, cooling, separation, and packaging. Petroganik has been shown to increase plant fertility. The effect will be better if the addition of Petroganik is combined with chemical fertilizers. In addition, Petroganik is also able to improve soil quality in a better way. Keywords: composition, Petroganik fertilizer, plant fertility, soil quality.
