Plastic is an essential part of our daily lives, from storing items to protecting human lives from contagious viruses. One of the numerous methods used to process raw plastic before being sent to the consumer product plants is to make it into thin layers of film. PT Trias Sentosa Tbk. is one of the biggest companies where such films are produced. Starting off as a small company with a meager production size of 4500 metric tonnes per year and led by Sugeng Kurniawan with a great vision and missions for the company which is implemented in their fundamental working motto, it achieved success within the industry in a short 28 years after its establishment. After doing a thorough background research, an excursion study is planned to be held with the representatives of PT Trias Sentosa, Tbk. The excursion study is conducted as a tool for the students of St. Louis 1 Catholic Senior High School in order to apply their knowledge on mathematics in real life situations, especially in industrial environments. Having discussed the contents which were presented in the excursion study for a week, a number of facts were discovered based on mathematical equations revolving around statistics, particularly the concept of standard deviation. From the calculation of the standard deviation on two different types of film, it can be inferred that PT. Trias Sentosa, Tbk. has a near-perfect production consistency with miniscule amounts of deviation. To summarize, PT Trias Sentosa Tbk. is a plastic film producing multinational company with spot-on consistency and quality.
