Abstract

Many aspects of life invole around paperp for various needs in our country. Paper is a sheet full of cellulose fibers that intertwine each other. Thus, as students of St.Louis 1 High School Student, the science students were assigned to have a real study at the paper factory to find the information about the colloid system and the chemical subtanses in the paper making process. In order to obtain the answer on how the uses of colloid system and chemical subtances affects the quality of paper making proses, the students observed directly at the field and also interviewed the people of the company. Base on the observation and interview, we found out that there are several chemical process, such as : coagulation and kraft, not to mention how chemical subtances affects the paper quality in the paper making process, such as aeration in the paper making industry. Build upon our study, we can safely conclude that other subjects besides chemistry suchs as physics and biology also have huge effect on the paper making prosess. We also keep the connection between the company and the school at once.
