Abstract

A culture thrives in its people, as opposed to growing within a nation itself, which implies that the dynamics of people play a large role in building a culture. As a concrete example, Bejijong Village has inherited countless heritages from the Javanese kingdom, The Kingdom of Majapahit, which the people actively publicized these past years. Considering the current world situation, these cultures must be built on environmental and sustainable principles. This research aimed to analyze the cultures inherited by Bejijong Village, in order to build cultures based on environmental and sustainable principles. This research utilized observation, interview, and literature study methods to obtain its data, as well as approaching statistics in a qualitative and quantitative manner. The result of this research suggested that Bejijong Village has an abundance of natural resources and assets. These resources and assets have been functionalized in order to build Bejijong Village’s culture and economy. In conclusion, this research depicted a comprehensive description about the social and cultural dynamics in Bejijong Village, as well as the importance of sustainable development as an effort to attain Sustainable Development Goals. Future researchers may improve on elaboration about the eco-friendliness aspect of terracotta and ecoprint products. Keywords: Cultural heritage, Sustainable Development, Majapahit Kingdom
