Abstract

Excursion is an important program for all 11 graders majoring in science in St. Louis 1 Catholic Senior High School. In this program, students were divided to 8 groups, each going to a respective facility of factory in hopes to learn the application of the lessons taught in school. This excursion study's purpose was to find out the types of colloid that were apparent in P.T. Sinar Indochem, a livestock feed company. The methodologies that were used in the study are observation, interview, and data analysis. By doing so, the types of colloid apparent in the company were identified. In the making of the lifestock feed, it is found that when the materials are incorporated, a solid sol is made. When the mixture is heated eith steam, gelatinization is bound to happen, thus creating a solid emulsion. Aside from the production process, the use of a chemical laboratory in creating livestock feed with balanced nutrition was also explainedin detail. Based on this short study, it can be concluded that the materials studied in school is applied in real life production. The next excursion can also visit P.T. Sinar Indochem to learn more about colloid. Key words : colloid, process, laboratory, and balanced nutrition.
