Abstract

Painting industry is oneof the oldest industry in the world. Paint is needed by almost everyone for different purposes ; such as to beauty, to strengthen, or to protect the painted surfaces. This research and visit involve discovering the viscosity level of different type of paints, produced by PT Warnatama Cemerlang. The aim of this visit is to know how viscosity affects, the quality, the dipersive power, and the water absorption of each type of paints. The students listened to the presentation from the representatives of PT Warnatama Cemerlang about basically everything related in the making of paints, and how it is related to the study of chemistry and physics. As visitors, the students also had the chance to observe how the paints are produced. During this learning process, the students were allowed to interview the presenter. Result showed that viscosity doesn’t affect water absorption not the paint quality, but viscosity does affect the dipersive power of a paint product. This concludes that on a constant thickness, the bigger the value of the viscosity are, the higher the dipersive power could get. Therefore, viscosity doesn’t affect water absorption and the paint quality, rather it only affects the dipersive power of a certain paint.
