Abstract
Nglinggo Village, located in Pagerharjo Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta Special Region, Indonesia, is an upland tourist village known for its tea plantation. Other than that, Nglinggo Village offers enthralling mountain views, hikes, a waterfall, and numerous more amenities. Since 2004, Nglinggo Village has been operating as a type of community-based tourist destination, in which local residents invite tourists to visit their community and provide accommodations with a touch of their culture and heritage. Another important part of Nglinggo Village has been the production of their household goods which include commodities such as gula aren or palm sugar, coffee beans and its processed tea, teh sangrai. All of this makes the tourist village management as well as home goods manufacturing a huge part of Nglinggo Village’s revenue. The aim of this study is to complete several targets, such as knowing how a tourist village affects Nglinggo Village’s home goods production. Through the Socio-Cultural Study Excursion, we were able to do a research meticulously into Nglinggo Village’s economy over a literature review in addition to the previously held question and answer session via ZOOM Meeting with a local representative. From the research, the writer was able to identify how the operation of Nglinggo Village as a tourist district affects the manufacturing of home goods undeniably. The result shows the growth of Nglinggo Village into a popular tourist destination, attracting even international visitors. Furthermore, writers also acquired the services and products of Nglinggo Village’s tourism and home goods, the significant role visitors play in the production of Nglinggo’s home goods, along with the rise in the human development index of Nglinggo Village as a result of the tourist village operation. Concluding the previous matter, research proves a mutualistic relation between the two markets in which the tourist village increases the demands of the home goods industry.
