In this modern era, chemical substances are involved in the manufacturing process and the composition of an everyday product. This paper elaborates on the system that utilizes chemical reactions and the chemical uses at PT Tjiwi Kimia Tbk. The data are collected through virtual observation of the manufacturing processes and an online interview with the faculty of the Chemistry Department of the industry regarding the chemical compositions. The collected data are then formulated into a comprehensive study report. The findings suggest that PT. Tjiwi Kimia Tbk mainly relies on the process of electrolysis, which employs industrial salt and water to create a reaction in the electrolyzer to produce a range of chemicals such as caustic soda, hydrogen, and chlorine--the three main products of electrolysis. Then, these three products will be generated again and produce derivative products such as chlorine, caustic soda flake and liquid -- most commonly found substances in everyday products, such as detergent, paper, and soap. In forming these products, the company also applies the use of membrane technology which separates different kinds of chemical compounds through the help of a semi-permeable membrane. This method is only recently adopted by the company after its previous mercury and diaphragm technology. In addition, the company applies the process called Anthraquinone Auto Oxidations (AAO) to produce Hydrogen Peroxide --commonly used in hair dye products and bleaching in its pulp and paper products. PT Tjiwi Kimia also ensures that the chemical waste meets the government's standards undergoing three stages--separation, oxidation and polishing--before released to the receiving bodies. This research highlights the pivotal role of chemical substances in PT. Tjiwi Kimia Tbk’s manufacturing stages and products. To summarize, caustic soda is the main ingredient in the manufacture of chemical products and industrial salt plays an important role in the formation of caustic soda.
